I am curled up in a fuzzy blanket as I write this post which means that winters have begun. Mornings bring sunshine good enough for chilly day and nights are cold. I am extremely happy that I have survived the major part of this worst year. November has ended on good terms bringing Christmas at my doorstep.
Coming to the books I have read in November, I would say it has been on the mellow side. If you remember my September Wrap , I read 7 books and 5 of them were above 4 stars. Similarly, in the month of October I read 5 books and out of them 3 were above 4 stars as I mentioned in my October Wrap. Without further ado, let’s dig into the books I read in November.
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid: ★★★★

Evelyn Hugo is an ageing Hollywood star who has lived her to the fullest. She has been bold, glamorous away from the public eye from a long time until her agents contact Vivant to write about her. Evelyn’s only demand is Monique Grant, an underrated editor at the magazine.
When Monique agrees to do the job, little did she know the real intention of Evelyn behind contacting her through Vivant.
It is a very well written book and gripping to say very least. This is my first book by Reid and I can see why it is one of the most loved book. The story takes us all in and make us fall in love with Evelyn Hugo. For accepting her as she is, for really believing her way of life and for understanding her choices. I highly recommend it.
Malice by Keigo Higashino: ★★★.5

What does an ideal murder mystery sounds like? A series of events transpires, a murder takes place, the police or the detectives look for substantial evidences to find the murderer.
Am I right, ain’t I?
Well, Malice is different. Hidaka is an award winning, critically acclaimed author. He is found dead and the body is discovered by his wife and his friend Nonogichi. The detective Kaga finds out the murderer quite early in the book.
Just when you feel like the book has ended because the murdered has been unveiled, the author pushes another mystery to the plot. The statement of the accused doesn’t very well corroborate.
He did it for sure. But, ‘WHY’ is where the author takes us to the next level.
The Henna Artist by Alka Joshi: ★★★

The story is the journey of a young married girl, Lakshmi who fled from her abusive husband and becomes a Henna Artist. She creates magic by painting the elite ladies of the society in Jaipur with her special Heena paste concocted with essential oils and medicinal herbs. She heels wounds, help the ladies conceive and also helps them getting rid of them when needed.
Yes, she is an abortionist.
Why is she taking so much of pain? Because she wants to build a house for herself.
I didn’t particularly love this book but the author did try to put some really great points supporting her prose.

You offer such interesting choices in this blog post once again. I have never heard of any of these titles! Though the first one kinda reminds me of the six wives of henry viii. I’m hoping to finish Barack Obama’s memoir this winter break, though it’s so thick I highly doubt I’ll reach the end of it haha! But I guess there are certain things that I don’t want to end either. Thanks for sharing your November wrap up, Mini! 🙂
