Never Have I Ever…read a later book in a series before reading the first book
I have never done this at least not initially. I might have read a later book first while re-reading the entire series. But, I am not usually the kind who likes to skip the titles. It breaks the momentum for me.
Never Have I Ever…burned a book
Oh God! I CAN NEVER IMAGINE DOING THIS. I wonder, who does this?
If I don’t like the book, then I just pass on it to someone who wants to read it but never ever harm it.
Never Have I Ever…read a book I knew I would hate
This has happened once with me. I had heard some disappointing reviews of Girl in White Cotton by Avni Doshi but I decided to try it anyway. I thought it might be different for me but sadly it turns out pretty average reading experience. So, yes I read a book I had an intuition that I won’t like.
Never Have I Ever…wrote a fan fiction about my favourite books
Surprisingly I have never. I thought of writing a fan fiction for the Harry Potter books but by the time I read all the books, it was too late. There were so many of these floating around the internet that I couldn’t make myself write one.
Never Have I Ever…loved a book when I was young, yet hated it when I got older
I might have an unpopular opinion on this. The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger is one book which I think I would have loved when I was young because I definitely hated it when I read it which was just a few years back.
Never Have I Ever…dressed up as one of my favourite literary characters
I wish I could! I had a phase when I was reading Jane Eyre. I wanted to dress up all Victorian because I love Jane Eyre and I quote some reasons in this post.
Never Have I Ever…hated a book by an author I love
I read The Kite Runner by Khalid Hosseini some time back in 2018 and instantly fell in love with the author. It is one of the few books that made me cry. So, when I picked up Sea Prayer, a graphic novel by him I expected a little more. I didn’t hate the book but I wish I loved it.
Never Have I Ever…gone into a bookstore to buy one book and come out with many more
This has happened so many times that I have lost count actually.
Never Have I Ever…read the ending of a book before reading the beginning
Nope. Can’t do this. I simply cannot read the ending even if I’m not convinced of the book. I drag the book till the end even if I am not liking it.
Never Have I Ever…read a book without the dust cover
Honestly, I read my hard-backs without their dust cover on. Why you ask? Because I feel it is my duty to protect the delicate dust cover from the brutal world.
Never Have I Ever…skim read nearly half a book
I had to do this. I was reading The Henna Artist by Alka Joshi a few days back. Honestly, the book started on a very high note but somewhere towards the middle the purpose of the book felt lost. The perspective didn’t feel like it was coming from a Indian writer as it was set in Jaipur. I had two options to DNF the book or to read the ending. Since you know well by now, I can’t read the ending directly so I had to skim nearly half of the book.
Never Have I Ever….pretended to have read a book that I haven’t
Why would I? What if I get asked a question and I’m not able to answer. That is going to affect my credibility.
Never Have I Ever….saw the movie before the book
Yes, I am guilty of this more than once. To start with THE HARRY POTTER series. I know ! The first movie came out before I knew the books even exist so I watched it with an open mind.
Never Have I Ever….read a book someone else is reading by peeking in their copy
I have peeked in someone else’s copy but not read from it.
Addition: Never Have I Ever…laughed out loud in public while reading
I have cried in public while reading The Traveling Cat Chronicles by Hiro Arikawa. But, laughing in public is still on the checklist.
