Stuck at Home Book Tag

Hello and Welcome to another Book Tag!

Owing to the 4 week lockdown in the UK and things are not improving here in India so we are at home most of the time, hence I thought it’s the perfect time to do the Stuck at Home Book Tag. I hope I am not too late for this tag which I found over at The Perks of Being Noura ages ago. Go check out her responses and thank me later.

The Tag Rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you.
  • Answer all the questions below.
  • Ping-back to the creator: Ellyn @ Allonsythornraxx
  • Nominate 5+ bloggers you’d like to know more about to do this tag

What are you currently reading?

I’m currently reading Bear Town by Fredrik Backman. If you have been a regular at Book & Corner, you would know by that I really love Backman’s works. Having read A Man Called Ove and Anxious People, Bear Town is next in line.

What’s your favorite ‘can’t leave the house’ activity?

I am all about binge-watching. You would find me either at Netflix or Amazon Prime. Recently, I binge-watched Emily in Paris and Gossip Girl.

A book you’ve been meaning to read forever?

There are so many books that I have been meaning to read forever. Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy, Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel and Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami to name a few.

An intimidating book on your tbr?

White Teeth by Zadie Smith. I pick it up read a few pages and then place it back on the shelf. This has been going on for the past few years.

Top three priority books on your tbr?

  • The Henna Artist by Alka Joshi
  • The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
  • The Memory Police by Yōko Ogawa

Recommend a short book?

Dopehri by veteran actor Pankaj Kapur is a short novella. It is one of the best books of the year for me.

Recommend a long book?

I have never really been able to stick to a long book since life has got in the way of reading. The longest I have read this year is Pachinko by Min Jin Lee. It is a great epic, well-researched and highly recommended if you like historical fiction.

Something you’d love to do while stuck at home?

Apart from clicking pictures for Bookstagram, I really like cooking sometime for a change. Though I am pretty bad at it but some videos become my inspiration when I try my hand in the kitchen. Not that I have made great recipes till date but it is safe to say that I can cook noodles in seven different styles. Do you have any stuck at home story?

What do you plan on reading next?

I think I want to pick up a Booker Prize shortlist next. Shuggie Bain by Douglas Stuart might be the one. Have you read this one?

Have you read any of these books that have been mentioned? Did you like my answers? If you like the prompts, please consider yourself nominated and link back your posts so that I can read your answers.

  1. I thought Bear Town was phenomenal. It was the first Fredrik Backman book I read. I also read the sequel to the book, and Anxious People. Each time I read one of his books, I realize how great of a writer he is!

  2. I’ve been seeing a lot of these blogger tags recently. This one’s kind of fun. If you’re going to be locked down, reading is a great way to spend the time if you ask me. Thank you for sharing!
