Surprisingly, all my books for today’s WWW are of Indian authors and so has been my reading.
WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and currently revived by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words
The three Ws stands for the following questions.
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you think you’ll read next?
Currently Reading: Poonachi: Or the Story of a Black Goat by Perumal Murugan
This book is about a goat whose life is nothing short of a miracle. The goat is attacked by vultures, is impoverished and is almost stabbed to death by a mysterious cat. Yet, the goat lives.
Shortlisted for JCB Prize 2018, this book is going very well so far. Some say this is the Indian version of Animal farm. Some say it is an allegory to the current state of affairs in the country. I’m yet to find out.
Recently Read: Ghachar Ghochar by Vivek Shanbhag
This is a short novella translated from Kannada taking upon convoluted relationships in our lives. It is a story about a middle class family who turns from rags to riches over a business. The stark contrast between their lives before and after the acquisition of money is brilliantly portrayed. I loved this book , devoured every bit of it.
Next Read: Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows by Balli Kaur Jaswal
The title is catchy. Right?
I’m adding this book to my next reads pile after getting inspired from The Bibliofile’s post of 100 best Books of Books of all Time. Have you read this book?
What is your WWW? Have you read any of these books? If not, do any of the title interests you?
I haven’t read any but I do recognise your last book. I think Reese Witherspoon featured it in her book club sometime!

Poonachi sounds like it will be a really interesting book! It sounds familiar, but at the same time it looks like it will have a lot of interesting real-world comparisons. Happy reading!

I think you’re right. I have come across some comparisons so far. No wonder this might be something like Animal Farm.

It is. The writing is very nice. It is translated from Tamil(regional language in southern part of India) which makes it all the more interesting.
