Welcome to another Wednesday meme. Time to ask ourselves the three W’s.
The three Ws stands for the following questions.
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you think you’ll read next?
Currently Reading: All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
Genre: Historical fiction
This book is continuing from last week because this is HUGE! Though, it is totally a page turner I am yet to explore the story.
In a mining town in Germany, Werner Pfennig, an orphan, grows up with his younger sister, enchanted by a crude radio they find that brings them news and stories from places they have never seen or imagined. Werner becomes an expert at building and fixing these crucial new instruments and is enlisted to use his talent to track down the resistance. Deftly interweaving the lives of Marie-Laure and Werner, Doerr illuminates the ways, against all odds, people try to be good to one another
Recently Finished: The Tattooist of Auschwitz
Genre: Historical Fiction
This is a story of loss, barbarity, love, struggle, and life most importantly. Emotions have drawn over me post this book, it is overwhelming for me review it at once. However, I am glad to say that it comfortably falls in the must-read category. It is definitely a 4 star for me and I am still having mixed feelings about half a star I am taking away from this book. I might change my mind when I actually sit down for reviewing it.
The Tattooist of Auschwitz is based on the true story of Lale and Gita Sokolov, two Slovakian Jews who survived Auschwitz and eventually made their home in Australia. In that terrible place, Lale was given the job of tattooing the prisoners marked for survival – literally scratching numbers into his fellow victims’ arms in indelible ink to create what would become one of the most potent symbols of the Holocaust.
There have been many books about the Holocaust – and there will be many more. What makes this one so memorable is Lale Sokolov’s incredible zest for life.
Next Read: Undecided
I haven’t thought about the next book I am going to read at this moment. I feel the next book would be a total mood read and a classic. What makes me feel like reading a classic, I don’t know. May be I have been into contemporary books for quite some time now. I have a few in mind. Please help me make my decision.
