Today we are talking about debut novels.
There are obviously more than 5 debut novels that I absolutely adore. But somehow I’m restricting to five for now.
The Kite Runner by Khalid Hosseini
One of the most memorable books I have read till now. I was overwhelmed, in tears by the end. For days I didn’t express anything as I was lost in the reverie of the book. How can such a novel be a debut, I wonder!
Harry Potter and the Philosopher Stone by J K Rowling
This needs no introduction. By far, this is my most cherished debut novel. I have grown up with Harry living in Hogwarts, as a Gryffindor attending Potions, giving OWLs, drinking Butterbeer and what not!
A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman
Bookstagram made me read this book and I am thankful every second. The moment I started this book, I got immersed in the writing which is poetically beautiful. You get driven with the plot and want to know more about this grumpy old man. I have made a Twitter thread on the sections I loved from the novel.
To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
I have loved this novel ever since I was made to read this in an English Class. I have read this as a child and then as an adult. The perspective changed but not affection.
The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri
Read this book in one sitting, after years of procrastination. Better late than never. This turned out to be a special book, very much relatable, kept me grounded to the plot making me to read and read and read. There is a movie adaptation as well which I am yet to see.

Its weird, I knew Harry Potter was her debut novel but I never think of it as a debut because its part of something so much bigger ❤ But it had to start somewhere! 😀
