Top 5 Tuesday | Series I want to start this year

Hello everyone. I’m back with another Top 5 Tuesday. Wait! What? If you are wondering why would I post Top 5 Tuesday on a Wednesday, let’s just say I was swamped with work and studies and lost track of time. But, I decided to do this anyway because that is how much I love Top 5 Tuesdays. This weekly meme is created by the very lovely Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm and I really hope she likes my list. In case you are new, go check out Shanah’s blog for the January topics and show her some support.

Coming back to this week’s topic which is Top 5 series I want to start this year. I have always been inclined towards reading series because I get to spend more time with my favorite characters. However, I prefer to read the entire series all at once because I am not very good at sustaining the suspense. So, here goes my list

  • A Song Of Ice and Fire by Goerge R.R. Martin

9814682This is one of my anticipated reads of this year. Having read the first book, I can’t wait to read the remaining ones. I have watched the entire series before reading and in my defense, this series is really intimidating. But, I am glad that the show has diverged from the plot and the books are completely different. So, I am hoping to read all the books this year.

  • 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami

15772884“The year is 1Q84. This is the real world, there is no doubt about that.
But in this world, there are two moons in the sky.” – Goodreads

I am becoming a huge fan of Haruki Murakami’s work which is why I’m pitching in this book to the list. Well, this is not entirely a series but a book disseminated into three parts. Owing to its humungous size I have been procrastinating on reading this. However, this is going to change and I hope to finish this by summers.

  • Six of Crows Duology by Leigh Bardugo

30327173It has been ages since I have read a YA fantasy novel. And, this series happens to be all over bookstagram so I am eager to pick this up once I get my hands on a cheaper copy.

Also, I haven’t read anything written by Leigh Bardugo yet so I am really crossing my fingers for this one.

  • The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

7938275Another YA fantasy. There is a pattern going on here as my list is centered around YA fiction! Maybe, I need to look beyond classics for some time. Though I have heard a lot about this series,  neither I have read these books nor I have watched the films.

  • Winternight Trilogy by Katherine Arden

25493853 Pure cover-love I would say!

Katherine Arden is the author I’ve been meaning to read from last year. The third book is yet to be released so I am going to wait before I starting reading this one.

That’s all for this week. Thank you for reading. Let me know in the comments if you have read any of these books.

Happy Reading

  1. I can vouch for Hunger Games, half of Six of Crows (plan on reading the other half soon), and A Song of Ice and Fire. The latter might be a bit intimidating (weighing in at just under 2 million words) but totally worth it!

    1. Yes, I have been told this many times. Soon enough, I am going to be done with at least The Hunger Games because I don’t own the SoC duology right now. I hope you really like Six of Crows. Happy Reading.☺️
